John Marshall Background

John has over 30 years of experience in implementing quality systems in a manufacturing environment. He has held positions including Product and Process Engineer, Plant Manager, and Vice President of Quality and Engineering. As Plant Manager, he directed his company’s efforts toward GM’s Targets for Excellence Award, IBM’s and Compaq’s “Top Vendor Award.” He personally led his plants in achieving ISO 9001 compliance and registration.

John has worked as both an innovator and trainer in the development of self-managed work teams in a manufacturing environment to improve quality and productivity, and to lower costs. Additionally, he has been both a manager and a trainer for Total Quality Management to achieve continual quality improvements.

Specialties

John has extensive knowledge of predictive maintenance, and has applied this knowledge within companies desiring improvements in machine reliability. He has also utilized the concepts of synchronous and lean manufacturing to identify and eliminate sources of waste in the production process.

In addition to his quality background, John has taught courses in plastics processing both nationally and internationally, including injection and blow molding. He has developed over 500 plastic products for the automotive, medical and consumer markets.

His areas of experience include automotive, electronic, consumer products, healthcare and medical devices.

Clients

For the past 9 years John has been a consultant, trainer, and auditor. He has taught lead auditor, internal auditor, and implementation courses for hundreds of students in ISO 9001, QS 9000 and ISO/TS 16949. As Lead Consultant, he has also directed a number of companies toward successful registration of ISO 9001 as well as registration to CE marking. He has also taught and consulted hospitals in accordance with the Environment of Care standards of the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations.

Credentials

John received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is an IRCA-accredited QMS Lead Auditor, a certified instructor for the new ISO 9001 guideline for healthcare, a member of ASQ and the Society of Plastic Engineers. He also holds several US patents for product and system designs.
