Management Representative Skills Needed for BMS Success
A key challenge in many organizations, properly training the Management Representative in implementing an ISO 9001:2000 quality management system is critical to the success of the QMS. The rep is the individual appointed to oversee the establishment and maintenance of the QMS, including communicating with top managers about the system.
ISO 9001:2000 requires in Subclause 5.5.2: Top management shall appoint a member of management who, irrespective of other responsibilities, shall have responsibility and authority that includes:
a) insuring that processes needed for the [QMS] are established, implemented, and maintained,
b) reporting to top management on the performance of the [QMS] and any need for improvement, and
c) ensuring the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
